SPILL PRESS RELEASE

At 4:00 am this morning a large container ship lost steering and ran into Tidewater’s moored barge Pioneer at our Vancouver, Washington Terminal, pushing it onto the beach and damaging all compartments, releasing approximately 23,000 barrels of No. 2 Diesel into the Columbia River.

The vessel is secured and Tidewater response personnel and governmental authorities were promptly contacted and are mobilizing to the site. The public is requested to remain a safe distance from the area and to stay off area beaches. Tidewater’s top priorities are to protect public health, safety and limit environmental impacts as the spill is contained and cleaned-up as quickly and efficiency as possible.
